On 6th March 2015 the journal Law & Method organizes its annual symposium. The central theme of the symposium is education on legal methods and techniques in the Dutch law bachelor. Several law faculties are developing new methodological education and the symposium aims to offer involved lectures the chance to share experiences and ideas. What is the importance of legal methods and techniques? Should they be integrated in other courses or be taught in a separate course? How do we want to teach student knowledge and skills? And how can we test these topics? Questions like these will be discussed during the symposium.
A number of lecturers who are actively involved in methodological education will present a ‘pitch’ of 10 minutes on the form and content of the courses they teach at the university. Thereafter, ideas and experiences will be discussed from both lecturer and student perspective in subsessions. During the plenary closing meeting the most important conclusions will be presented by ‘flying reporters’.
The symposium will be held in the ‘Sterrewacht’ (Niels Bohrweg 2) in Leiden from 12.00 to 17.00. For further information and subscription, you can send an email to Arie-Jan Kwak (a.j.kwak@law.leidenuniv.nl), together with a short description of how you are involved in methodological education.
